Putting the Plan into Action

It's been established that I'm trying to get back into the game. I've begun my marketing campaign for this blog and a few online programs that I'm a member of. I had been juggling a few things like mystery shopping and merchandising with a few surveys here and there, but there's been an issue with mystery shopping that I'll go into detail about in a future post. Long story short, it hasn't been as lucrative for me the past two months as it normally is. On top of that, with the field inspections with my regular company declining because of my insurance, I've had to look for new companies. I've signed a contract with a new company today and I should begin working with them soon. In the meantime, I'm still picking up a few shops, but I'm also placing a few ads online to promote my referral links and using a traffic exchange site again. A traffic exchange may not be the best source of traffic, but it is traffic nonetheless. I don't have any money to invest in paid advertising, so traffic exchanges and free ad sites will have to do for now. I have to start somewhere.
What is this traffic exchange I keep mentioning? In a nutshell, it is a website where I can post links to sites I'm trying to promote. I earn visits to my sites by visiting other sites. Each time I visit a site I get a credit or a boost in ranking depending on the site and I get visitors to my site. The downside to this is that the traffic isn't targeted, meaning that with most traffic exchange sites you probably won't get visitors who were genuinely interested in your site or product, though there are traffic exchange sites where you can categorize your website so that you can get targeted visitors. The upside is that you get visitors that you probably never would have had otherwise. It is time consuming, but depending on your goals it can pay off. Especially if the goal is to get referrals. You can find links to some good traffic exchange sites on the Useful Links page.
I've tried so many different programs and sites over the past several years. Several of them failed because the sites and programs were no good. Others failed because I simply didn't know what I was doing at the time. Some failed because I just didn't put much time or effort into them. Then there are some that I really liked and have been going strong since the beginning of my internet endeavors when I was 15 years old. For the ones that failed due to my lack of commitment, I'm giving some of those another try now that I'm a little more mature. Ultimately, I want to write. I want to write things that I care about. I also want to have an abundance of money and be debt free. I believe the smart way to do that is to create more than one stream of income and at least one or two of those streams need to be residual. That's a totally different post, though. I just wanted to write down a couple of my goals/dreams so that I'll have something to look back on when I actually achieve them. Set a few goals, come up with a plan, then put it into motion.
